The third precept of Huna is: Makia – Energy flows where attention goes.
Literally, what we place our attention on – think about all the time or expect to happen, is where all our energy goes.
The thing is, when we focus on something, we tend to attract it into our lives – a lot like a magnet attracting iron filings.
But, and this is the weird part part, what we focus on is also sometimes pushed away from us…..a bit of a double edged sword. Both edges are dangerous!
If we have negative beliefs about something, say money or rather the lack of it, then our habitual thinking will both attract lack into our lives and push money away from us!
Another example is relationships. Negative beliefs both attract what you focus on (what is the mental dialogue?) and ensures that you have what you don’t want!!
Our limiting beliefs hold in a position that we are unhappy with and as a result we also expend a lot on energy bemoaning the situation. Energy flows where attention goes!
A good example from my own life concerned some tasks that needed doing in the office. I wasted so much energy worrying about the task and also doing less important tasks! If, as I did in the end, had only just focused on the outcome of completing the tasks, then I would have saved a whole lot of energy and stress!!
Make a log of your beliefs (here’s a link to one I created for myself).
until next time
