The second precept of Huna (Kala) states: “There are no limits.” We are told that our possibilities are limitless. Yet, on may occasions we fail to reach the end of the street, let alone the stars.
Where do our limits come from? Who instills them in our Minds?
As children we have dreams and hopes and desires. As adults, most if not all of our dreams are withered husks with little life.
From my study of and research into the Mind and hypnosis the answer to the above questions is from those around us and ourselves.
Comments and statements made by parents, teachers, authority figures like doctors, from when we are born. As our brain develops we take on/adsorb everything that goes on around us. When we are young, we have no ability to discern or filter out the good from the bad.
It has been discovered that the brainwaves change from Delta at birth (and while we are sleeping) , through to Alpha / Beta when we become teenagers then through into adulthood. The most changes to the brain occur in the delta (0-4 yo), theta (4-7 y0) and alpha ( 7-14 yo) frequencies as we grow up.
It is at these lower frequencies that we absorb so much of what is happening around us. It is a case of ‘monkey see, monkey do’. This period is the foundation for the beliefs that we carry into adulthood. The foundation of either setting limits or not.
The challenge then is to awaken to limitless possibilities and the belief that we can go after what is in our hearts.
