I love a quote from one of Florence Scovel Shinn’s books “If you do not run your subconscious mind for yourself, someone will run it for you.”
This is a great piece of advice. Are you in control of your subconscious?
Our subconscious picks up beliefs and images all the time. Much of what is absorbed by the subconscious is done so without conscious awareness. Other times we set limiting beliefs in place without knowing the long term consequences of those beliefs.
We are not taught how to run our subconscious. We are taught to fill our minds with knowledge, but are left to our own devices when it comes to learning how to control our minds.
When I was growing up, people who mediated were laughed at. It wasn’t cool to meditate. Times have changed and so have attitudes. It is now proven that meditation is great for the mind and body.
Meditation allows ones to get control of both the conscious and subconscious. Vipassana goes a step further and helps one to release the programs of the subconscious.
Another great tool for getting control of the subconscious is a program called the Release Technique. The Release Technique works with letting go of the programming that one has accumulated in the subconscious.
At the end of the day, the challenge is to get control of the subconscious and to have it help us move forward in life. To move forward with confidence.
