A Prisoner of Our Own Thinking

In an earlier post I talked about labels and their impact on us. In my last post I talked about the quote from the poem by Richard Lovelace: “Stone walls do not a prison make, nor iron bars a cage”.

The labels that we give ourselves trap us. But so do the labels given to us by other people. These last labels are very powerful and if we buy into them, they limit us.

Les Brown in his book: “Live Your Dreams: Say Yes To Life” talks of the label he adopted from a teacher. It wasn’t until he met another teacher who said to him “Someones opinion of you does NOT have to become YOUR reality.”

How often have we allowed other peoples opinions of us limit us? Make us prisoners of limiting beliefs?

The challenge is to become aware of our limiting beliefs, those that are holding us prisoner in a limited world. To break free of the bonds of those beliefs and soar.

About selfhypnosisresource

Hi there. I have an interest in personal change - for the better and have done so for many years. I am working on meditation - that's a work in progress. I have been on a number of Vipassana retreats. I found these of great value. I also have an interest in self-hypnosis and how it can help with self improvement. My blog is on topics associated with personal change, hypnosis, Vipassana and Huna
