Gardening the Mind and Vipassana

After I posted my about becoming a gardener of the mind, I reflected on how much Vipassana is like being a gardener of the Mind. This is also interesting – how the Universe guides ones writing!!

vipassana

You see, Vipassana is about transforming oneself through observing the self. As you sit quietly in Vipassana meditation, the defilement’s of the Mind assail you. Your task is  watch them arise without attachment and let them go.

Whilst sitting in meditation, the Mind not only assails us with thoughts but also with sensations that we feel in our bodies. Pains, itches, hot, cold, all manner of sensations. These sensations are associated with thoughts and beliefs.

You investigate the thought or the sensation and let it go. As you release the attachment to the sensation, its hold upon you and your Mind is weakened and eventually is released.

Learning to be the gardener and not allowing the weeds of unsupportive thoughts to settle in the Mind, frees the Mind. With that freedom comes the ability to tap into greater resources of the Mind.

Slowly the chattering Mind makes way to a calm clear mind…One that supports you in achieving your goals and aspirations.

until next time

About selfhypnosisresource

Hi there. I have an interest in personal change - for the better and have done so for many years. I am working on meditation - that's a work in progress. I have been on a number of Vipassana retreats. I found these of great value. I also have an interest in self-hypnosis and how it can help with self improvement. My blog is on topics associated with personal change, hypnosis, Vipassana and Huna
