So what is hypnosis? Holywood & TV have portrayed it as something that is done to people and that people are under a spell or control of another person. Stage hypnosis is entertainment and again people do things that are suggested by the hypnotist. But is this really hypnosis?
It all started over 200 years ago with a guy called Mesmer and still the debate rages. What is known is that all hypnosis is self hypnosis. That it is a heightened level of concentration. And that while in a hypnotic state you are highly suggestible.
We drop in and out of hypnotic states throughout our day. While reading, watching TV, even driving! Hypnosis is an inherent biological function of the brain. That is, it is a part of our normal human make up.
So if it is a normal part of our brain, it makes sense to learn how to make use of it! Rather than programming our minds randomly, why not make conscious choices as to what we program ourselves with?
As I mentioned in my previous post, use hypnosis to re-learn the ability to learn, to achieve our goals. The key element here is choosing what we want to program our minds with, rather than allow it to happen randomly!
