I recently received an e-mail from Dr Robert Anthony that has made me stop and think for a bit. The quote from the e-mail was “You don’t need “self-improvement” because you cannot improve who you are – your Authentic Self”. This bought to mind comments from Amir Zoghi: “that we don’t need to fix, change or improve our lives”.
We hear a lot about self or personal improvement. There are many books written about it, seminars and the like. Many more labeled “Self Help”.
But, if we are “perfect” already and only need to “remember” who we truly are, then why do people struggle so much?
My take on this whole thing, from personal experience, is that, yes we are perfect and total Love at our core. The trouble is that we have overlaid so much “stuff” on top of this prefect being, that it takes some work to uncover who we are and set us on the right track. I have found just thinking that I am perfect – kinda didn’t work for me. There was no point of reference that I could believe in, and I stayed stuck. I needed something a little more ‘down to earth’ to kick start the process. Something that wasn’t mumbo jumbo, or woo woo. Good ole practical stuff that I could relate to.
There was nothing out there that really brought it all together for me – hence this blog and my web site (www.selfhypnosisresource.com). As I have travelled this path, I have learnt many things.
One of those things is that as we journey, our knowing deepens and widens. We start to develop wisdom on how life truly works and that our horizons start to expand beyond what we first thought possible, or even probable.
Long may the journey continue.
Until next time
