Passive Observer or Active Participant

To make and sustain change in our lives, we need to change the way that our brains are wired.  We have learnt that to make changes to our brain neuron structure requires focused attention.  What do I mean by focused attention?

Focused attention is when we engage our imagination, our senses and our emotions on the change that we desire. If you are listening to a self-hypnosis CD or MP3, or your own script, it is not enough to be a passive observer.

By passive observer I mean, listening to the new script but not engaged with it.  It is as if you are looking at it as a parade passing by, but not in the parade.  It is as if you are experiencing it as the third person – the watcher.

When trying to make a change in one’s life you have to be fully engaged in that change.  An active participant!  That is, being in the parade! Taking part.  Experiencing everything first hand.  Being fully engaged with focused attention, makes the new neural connections.  Repeated focus on the change strengthens those new connections and the change starts to take hold.

Be actively involved in the change you want to see in your life – not an interested observer.

Until next time

About selfhypnosisresource

Hi there. I have an interest in personal change - for the better and have done so for many years. I am working on meditation - that's a work in progress. I have been on a number of Vipassana retreats. I found these of great value. I also have an interest in self-hypnosis and how it can help with self improvement. My blog is on topics associated with personal change, hypnosis, Vipassana and Huna
