In previous posts, I have talked about concentration and engagement. In this post I will expand on and merge these two topics with the aim of explaining how the two work together – the value of immersion.
When I talk about immersion, I am referring to being totally engaged in the image of change you wish to make in your life. Firstly you will have identified an area of your life that you want to change – that may be to have a lower goal weight, eat healthier, exercise regularly, become a non-smoker, be fully confident or any other personal goal you have identified.
The question is, what would your life look like with that goal achieved? If you sit back for a moment and think about your goal, how many senses can you engage? What does it feel like? I mean really feel like having achieved the change?
Immersion is being totally in the the change you desire. You can feel, smell it, taste it, see it. hear it…can you?
Hypnosis works by directly accessing the sub-conscious and implanting the desired behavior or thoughts directly on it. You are totally immersed in the experience because the conscious mind is put aside for a moment. When that happens, you are able to experience the full force of your imagination. That immersion within the image, helps to rewire your brain, leading to the desired outcome….
