Vipassana and Hypnosis in the same sentence????

So why compare Vipassana and hyonosis?

Well it is all to do with the subconscious.  If you have ever been on a Vipassana retreat and listened to the discourses by S N Goenka, you will have heard him mention the fact that we react unconsciously to the sensations that are presented via the 5 sense doors – sight, sound, touch, smell & taste (we experience our world via these senses and the interpretations the mind puts on what it receives).  We react to the sensation with either aversion or craving!

With hypnosis or self-hypnosis, we are looking to go directly into the subconscious and change a program or place a new one there.  In both instances we are working with the subconscious.

So where is this leading?  To the fact that we are controlled by our subconscious more than we think and that we can gain that control back.  One of the main keys in gaining back control, that I have found, is our ability to concentrate on a single thing with great clarity…..

More on that in another post.

About selfhypnosisresource

Hi there. I have an interest in personal change - for the better and have done so for many years. I am working on meditation - that's a work in progress. I have been on a number of Vipassana retreats. I found these of great value. I also have an interest in self-hypnosis and how it can help with self improvement. My blog is on topics associated with personal change, hypnosis, Vipassana and Huna
