As I mentioned in my first post, the use of hypnosis to assist personal change intrigued me. Why was I getting good results using the Paul McKenna Hypnosis CD where I hadn’t had a lot of success working out of books or listening to other affirmation CD’s by myself in the past? What was it about the self hypnosis CD or self hypnosis MP3 that was making the difference? Being a curious soul I decided to investigate this a little more.
One of the first things that was obvious was that there was a time commitment. I had to set aside 30 minutes to listen to the self hypnosis CD or self hypnosis MP3. In those 30 minutes I was totally focused on the experience! I had turned off or eliminated distractions. As I looked back, most of the self-change work I had been doing over the years was really just me working by myself from instructions out of a book. I soon found myself distracted by daily life and my efforts slowly dwindled away and I didn’t get the full benefit of the change I was seeking. With self-hypnosis MP3’s or self-hypnosis CD’s and self-hypnosis programmes it was as if I had a support team there with me doing it with me. (well they were really as I was listening to their voices! 🙂 )
What I also noticed was that the scripts that the various programs were using on their hypnosis CD’s and hypnosis MP3’s first of all got me into a relaxed state and then to engage all of my senses. I was being asked to visualise, feel and hear. They got me to imagine myself in the state I wanted to achieve using my own experiences.
I decided to conduct an experiment and try a few other hypnosis downloads to see if they had a similar effect.
Will keep you posted on my progress 🙂
